Man U are not only getting bad press from their deserved defeat by Liverpool on Sunday. Their manager, Alex Ferguson’s outburst against referee Andre Marriner accusing Marriner of not having the necessary experience when he only yellow carded Jamie Carragher for a dangerous challenge on United striker Michael Owen instead of sending him off. A number of senior referee’s have come out against Ferguson and stood behind Marriner’s decision.
Ferguson has since admitted that Manchester United side was defeated by the better side on the day.
This is the second outburst by the veteran manager in the last month. He accused Alan Wiley of not being fit enough when he officiated in the Man U 2-2 draw against Sunderland. Sir Alex has accepted a charge of improper conduct from the FA for that one. The referee fraternity will be looking for at least a multiple match side-line ban for this one.
